November 19, 2016 at 1:31 am in reply to: What version of libmdot, mbed rtos, mbed should be used. #15554Tom HillParticipant
I am currently on mbed library 117, RTOS 111 and the last libmdot is from 4th April 2016, I think revision 14. I would like to mbed os 5 and I had not upgraded as we were in testing mode with the earlier mbed os. we are ready to try the application on mbed os5. I build the applications via the online compiler, do you see any downside to that. I have not setup an offline compiler for the mdot, however i have setup the mbed-cli for one of the other platforms for mbed-os5. I will be using SPI, should I not be using mbed os 5.015? I see in the changelog regarding the issue with the data rate being set to DR0, however is this an issue with ADR as well, since we are going to begin testing the ADR functionality soon.
Should I be using the libmdot-dev-mbed5 or is there a production version that I can use, for the mbed-os5?
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantAny inputs from multitech team as to how best to determine the PPP link status? It seemed to work for me fine as soon as I removed the antenna from conduit. It didn’t take too long to determine the PPP Status. Let me experiment it again and will see if there is a delay in determining the PPP status.
How do you execute the radio query from node-red?
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantThanks Mike and Jason for clearing things up and taking the time to respond.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantThanks Mike that was very helpful. Is it a good practice to have just a series of numbers for the network name? Is there some good practice for network names that we should be using, so there is no collisions in where multiple conduits exist in fairly near proximity? Since the network id is being generated based on the comments above.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantHi Andrew,
How much Additional work did you need to do on the mDot side to get it to work with this BLE module? Also does it not have an SPI/I2C interface to communicate with?
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantHi Jeff,
Thanks for your response. So is this being looked into actively by the multitech team if new version of nodejs works with ARM5 architecture and is there any timeline for such an upgrade in place, as I am trying to set some expectations for my client, if this is not even in the radar of happening in the near future. As the newer versions of both NodeJS and node-red seems to have improvements in overall performance of the node-red application.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantDoes this documentation in the faq section for mdot on the mbed site still hold good and which would answer my second question above?
“The mDot waits for a response until both receive windows have expired. This is approximately 2 seconds. If you aren’t expecting responses to your packets, you can disable the receive timeout using the AT+TXW command.”
Tom HillParticipantSorry Jason a followup question. what would be the state of the flag if the mdot is powered off when it was in sleep mode? so when the mdot is powered on, and the mdot instance is created would the flag be unset?
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantAny ideas if there are any plans to upgrade the node to 4x and the node red versions?
Tom HillParticipantThanks Jason for the explanation of the different scenarios in the deep sleep mode.
Tom HillParticipantThanks a lot Bryan for you response. Is this documented anywhere so in the future if I have questions regarding the status of other fields I can just look up this document or link.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantThanks a lot Mike that worked. Can you point me to the documentation that we should be compiling against this revision of the mbed-rtos? So in the future I could look it up, when mdot lib needs to be compiled against a later version of the rtos lib.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantThanks Jason, I get it now. However are there any other setting such as the one above “nodeQueueSize”, that apply to the Lorawan end point that are configurarable? I was not aware of this setting to begin with, so I am just curious if there are other configurable settings that are related the lorawan end point and if this is documented somewhere that I can refer to.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantHi Jason,
Is there any documentation around how the various settings can be made to node-red like the once you have mentioned above or is this standard node-red mechanism to update any settings of a given node in node-red?
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantHi Mike,
None of the LED’s light up currently when we apply the external power. Also the mdot UDK2 does show up as a mass storage device when I connect it via the USB cable to the PC and everything just works fine.
Only that while we try to not connect the USB cable and try powering it up via the external power Jack J3 the Mdot doesn’t seem to get powered up and I was wondering if we had to do anything else in the UDK2 to be able to power it up via the J3 jack?
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantWe are trying to do the same, however the board doesn’t seem to get powered up. I was wondering if we are missing a step here as I couldn’t find anything in the Developer guide indicating if any thing else needs to be done other than providing an external source of power. This is a bit urgent as we have do some field testing ASAP.
Thanks,
YogeshTom HillParticipantTom HillParticipantHi Jeff,
Thanks for your quick response.1) Yes the Status LED is not lighting up. It used to flash earlier, but not today.
2) The POWER LED is ON and the LS LED is flashing.
3) Yes there is a SIM card inserted, as of today none of the signals LED are lighting up as it did in the past, including the CD LED.Also I was trying to access the Admin WEB UI. I even tried a full reset, but no response from the conduit or rather didn’t reboot.
Thanks,

So I did change the password on the admin page a while back. I was able to login using that user name and password. so is admin the root user name in the AEP case? I am trying to locate the node-red folder and I was wondering what would be the best way to do that? Also I wanted to create a folder that will be specific to my application to store file(s) via Node-Red’s storage API’s.
Thanks,
