Participanthi everyone
I want to build a lorawan sensor to connect with “MultiConnect® Conduit® IP67 Base Station IP67 Conduit for Outdoor LoRa® Deployments (MTCDTIP Series)”
which microcontrolor can be used with those module?
also I could not see the difference between the two modules mdot and xdot ,
i want to choose the one which gives me possibility to connect digital and analog sensors.

Keymasterhttps://www.multitech.com/products/embedded-m2m-modems
Both units are able to communicate via serial AT commands. Any micro-controller with a serial peripheral could be used.
mDot datasheet

xDot datasheet
https://www.multitech.com/documents/publications/data-sheets/86002182.pdfBoth modules are programmable and could be connected directly to digital and analog sensors.

mDot has a 100 MHz processor and external flash
xDot has a 32 MHz processor with no external flashBoth have SPI, I2C, digital, analog and serial interfaces.

Participantthanks mr Jason
if I understand, the mDot end Xdot are lorawan module with an integrated CPU so I can consider them as End node in lorawan topolgie , also I can connect directly digital and analog sensors.
can I programme those module and modify it Spreading factor or code rate , transmision power;;; to have an effective communication with the gatweway,
because my mission is to build a new sensor that is performant and can receive and transmit data in long distance into through the buildingI found another problem when I search the difference between the mdot and xdot , it is mentioned in web site of multitech that
1-the mdot is for M2M communication and xDot for IoT communication:
https://www.multitech.com/brands/multiconnect-mdot
https://www.multitech.com/brands/multiconnect-xdot
2- here it’s the opposite , the mdot for IoT and xdot for M2M
https://os.mbed.com/platforms/mts-mdot-f411/#mdot-pinout-diagram
https://os.mbed.com/platforms/MTS-xDot-L151CC/#example-programs
3 and in 3rd site I found m2m and iot

KeymasterI do not see the issue with using either term to describe the devices capabilities.
IOT uses M2M communication to provide a service.

Participantif I want to define the type of communication between the end device and gateway in the LORA architecture, it is M2M or IoT?

KeymasterIt is both.

ParticipantHow?
is there a document that can help me understand this point

KeymasterI thought this article has made the point clear.
What are yor questions regarding the contents of the article?May 15, 2019 at 7:41 am #27770benmessaoudimene@outlook.com
ParticipantI am choosing the adequate components for the design of a sensor that can communicate with a gateway “base station by multitech” already installed.
and when I contacted the community of multitech, he said that I must choose a lorawan module not lora module and he propose mdot and xdot and there is another module “RN2483” it is also a lorawan module;after when I search about M2M and IoT, I understood that M2M is between nodes and IoT is to communicate with a gateway (transmit data and receive an ACK).
my mission is to build a sensor that can guarantee a long range without the lost of package

Participantthanks Mr Jason
please ,Do you have any suggestions for the antenna that I can use with the mdot.
I’m in Europe (868 Mhz) and my sensor will be installed in a building ,
I want to choose a performant antenna wuth a VSWR <= 2
thank you
