In an email we received this week highlighting features in an upcoming software release for Conduits (PCN 072018-00), it is mentioned that LoRa FUOTA will be available. What specific enhancements/new functionality in the release will make FUOTA possible? Is there any documentation/reference material available for implementing it?
AEP and mDot firmware will include applications for Multicast and FUOTA setup and transmission. Multicast allows multiple devices to receive a firmware simultaneously rather than send to each device.
To make use of the FUOTA application the AEP UI or API can be used by on Conduit.
On mDot the FUOTA application can be enabled through AT commands and will be included in libmDot to be used in a custom firmware.
Thanks for that, Jason. To further clarify, though: the email references “New Features in Software Release 1.6.” Is this the version of AEP? I ask because the most recent version of AEP on the downloads site (http://www.multitech.net/developer/downloads/) is 1.4.17.
Also, re the libmDot you mention: the FUOTA/Multicast functionality appears to be available in the frequently updated libmDot-dev (https://os.mbed.com/teams/MultiTech/code/libmDot-dev-mbed5/). Presuming the functionality will be available in the next release (ie, v3.0 is upgraded to v3.1), when is that release anticipated? IOW, will libmDot be upgraded concurrently with the AEP upgrade scheduled for August per the email?
Both AEP and mDot updates should be available in August to support FUOTA.
