lighttpd and php

    I cannot get lighttpd to serve up a .php page from /www/pages/index.php
    Get 403 forbidden error. Serving .html files fine.

    edited /etc/lighttpd.conf to enable modules
    created a php.ini in /www/pages/
    chmodded index.php file to 777

    Any suggestions?
